About Us

History

Mary Eyre is a kindergarten through fifth-grade school with an enrollment that averages around 570 students. Literacy Squared (Bilingual) and ESOL services are offered. Our nickname is the Eagles.

Eyre Elementary opened in 1977, and was named for Mary E. Eyre whose connection with Salem-Keizer Public Schools began in 1904 when she enrolled as a second grader. She was hired as a teacher in Salem High School in 1922, and retired in 1962. She was active in civic affairs and was twice president of the Marion County Historical Society.
